In Barbados we have found that the most popular grass used in local landscapes is The Savannah Grass . A fact that is known by few is that this grass grows wild in some areas of St. John and St. George and St. Andrew, in gullies and along the hill sides as it enjoys shady moist conditions that allow it to spread and form a lush light green turf that is easy on the feet.
The main challenge associated with owning a savannah lawn is that it will tend to become patchy and invite clumps of weeds during the dryer months when it is not receiving its required quota of water. But this is a small issue as it is easily combated by taking the appropriate preventative or correctional maintenance steps.
